Healthwise Tips

Health is not merely the absence of disease. It is an overall lifestyle. Here are some easy tips provided by Healthwise to help you maintain a healthy lifestyle.

You and your doctor

Working closely with your doctor can help you save money and get great care. If you feel under pressure of timid during your appointment use the Ask-the-Doctor Checklist to help guide the conversation. Think of your doctor as a teacher and a coach. And remember, your doctor is an expert on medical care, but you are the expert on yourself. Click here to learn more about how to work closely with your doctor.

An ounce of prevention:
Immunizations cost a lot less than treating the diseases they protect against. August is National Immunization Awareness Month (US). Before children can enter school, parents usually need proof that all their child's immunizations are up to date. Click here to learn what immunizations your child needs and when.

What you need to know about blood pressure

If your blood pressure is usually above 140/90, you have high blood pressure, or hypertension.  Despite what a lot of people think, high blood pressure usually does not cause headaches or make you feel dizzy or lightheaded. It usually has no symptoms.  Find out more on how you can control your blood pressure by visiting our tips on Healthwise.
