The Division of Special Operations has as its primary mission the advancement and application of operational expertise in advanced emergency medical care and services in complex environments defined by high-risk patient populations. 
Specific programs of DSO include ground and air critical care patient transport, law enforcement and tactical medical support, disaster and emergency preparedness and telemedicine and emergency consultation services.
