Dear Faculty Member,
I wanted to take this opportunity to update you on the status of the OWISM. We have continued to have our Information and Conversation sessions - these have been well attended. Our next Information and Conversation session entitled Networking will take place on December 7, 2010 from 9-10 AM in the Darner room (G007). Additionally we have begun a series of sessions to discuss issues concerning Work Life intersection! Our next lecture in this series entitled Eldercare 101, will take place on January 20 from 9-10 AM in the Tilghman room. You will be receiving further information about this. Further important information about the office of work life and engagement can be found on their website.
I am pleased to announce that Marin Alsop of the BSO has agreed to give the third annual OWISM lecture. Please save the date as this wonderful event will take place on March 1, 2011 at 4:30 PM. We have begun to solicit nominations for the Vice Dean's award. Please view the announcement and nomination form for this award.
We have recently completed our first Leadership program for women faculty (LPWF), and have recruited for our next. Our second cohort has 45 exceptional women faculty, and our first session was held on October 15, 2010. If you have not participated, please consider applying for our 2011 program. The application will be available in the spring of 2011. In the meantime, many of you have expressed interest in developing your leadership skills. We encourage you to allot some time each year to your ongoing leadership development. You may be particularly interested in the following courses that are not offered as part of the LPWF.
1. Effective Meetings in Half The Time
2. Becoming a Conflict Competent Leader
3. Focus on Underlying Motives: The Key to More Productive Conflict
4. FLEX Talk: Understanding Yourself and Others Better Through MBTI Personality Type Theory
