About the Program

Our mission

The mission of the e-Radiology Learning program is to advance the practice of radiology by disseminating our educational content to a worldwide audience via an easily accessed medium that will allow interactive engagement with our distance learners. Get program details.

Program history

Johns Hopkins University, and the Department of Radiology under the leadership of the Chairman Dr. Jonathan Lewin, are dedicated to sharing knowledge with the world. This global spirit has led us to focus our initial program planning on sharing the content of our radiology resident training beyond the confines of our institutional boundaries. We are also intent on offering an enhanced educational experience through interactive engagement—rather than simple recorded lectures.

Our first pilot, in the fall of 2009, targeted a large academic institution in the Middle East. With our newfound knowledge we embarked on a more aggressive second pilot in the summer of 2010, broadcasting our educational content in a live online format to three continents.

Over a 10-week period, we were joined by residents at 14 academic institutions. Students from Turkey, Israel, Brazil, Saudi Arabia and the United States, to name a few, converged on our virtual classroom for weekly lectures. This experience has helped us fulfill our commitment to delivering our educational content worldwide, and the program’s success has confirmed that our efforts are focused in the right direction.

We are now approaching the end of our 2010-2011 series of lectures.  e-Radiology learning is viewed on 5 continents
and is broadcast twice weekly.  As our programming expands we look forward to the challenges and rewards of the
2011-2012 season.
