Bayview Has Certified Hand Therapists, Too
In the article about certified hand therapist Amy Schimberg [Nov. 2007], it was noted that she is the only CHT at Johns Hopkins. That statement is incorrect. There are four CHTs at the Johns Hopkins Bayview campus: Ginny Carman, Linda Ware, Beth Basham and myself. Together we have 70 years of hand experience, including the care of burn injuries to the hand. The article also stated that hand therapy only became a subspecialty of occupational therapy in 1991. But, though the majority of hand therapists are OTs, the certification is not exclusive to them; physical therapists can also become CHTs.
