Due Credit
Johns Hopkins HealthCare can now celebrate with other members of Johns Hopkins Medicine that have earned the stamp of approval from independent accreditors. After two years of preparation and surveyors’ scrutiny, the organization that administers health care benefits for almost 200,000 members can now boast that it’s accredited by URAC, a Washington, D.C.-based association that establishes health care industry standards, like quality improvement and consumer protection. It’s the first time Johns Hopkins HealthCare has applied for full health plan accreditation, says Barbara Krajnik, manager of quality improvement, who coordinated the application, “and it demonstrates our commitment to quality for our members.” JHHC’s principal programs are the Employer Health Programs, Priority Partners, providing benefits for Medicaid beneficiaries, and the Uniformed Services Family Health Plan.
