Last November, grateful patient David Coriat, right, surprised Lloyd Minor, center, director of the Department of Otolaryngology—head & Neck Surgery, with a cake in the shape of an ear. Coriat, executive vice president and CFO of Canada's Standard Broadcasting Company, had two successful ear surgeries at Hopkins. His daughter, Jess, left, an avid fan of the Food Network program "Ace of Cakes," arranged for Baltimore's Charm City Cakes—subject of the popular TV show—to create a custom cake in Minor's honor.
