GBMC Partners

Extending its reach northward, Johns Hopkins Medicine has signed an affiliation agreement with the Greater Baltimore Medical Center that gives GBMC patients access to the diagnostic care and services of 40 Johns Hopkins Hospital heart doctors. Most of these physicians now see patients part time at GBMC, making it convenient for those living near the Towson complex. Under the agreement, Hopkins doctors now manage GBMC’s cardiac care unit and cardiac services in their emergency department and supervise heart-related tests. Home to the region’s largest outpatient pediatric surgery program, GBMC will now have an even larger capacity—and access to Johns Hopkins specialists and operating rooms for more complex surgical needs.

United, 100 Percent

United WayJohns Hopkins Medicine announces the kickoff of its 2007 United Way campaign. This year’s theme: We’re 100 percent behind United Way.

The campaign at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System, the School of Medicine, Community Physicians, Home Care and HealthCare begins Oct. 15 and runs two weeks, through Oct. 26. Two hot-dog lunches have been planned for noon on Oct. 18 and Oct. 25 at Turner concourse.

Bayview’s campaign takes place from Oct. 1 through Oct. 4, with a host of activities, including a bake sale and silent auction; Howard County General’s campaign takes place from Oct. 22 through Nov. 17.

The annual United Way leadership breakfast is set for Oct. 1 in Turner Auditorium at
8 a.m.

As you consider a donation, remember the 1,300+ causes United Way supports, including larger partners like the American Cancer Society, and smaller ones like House of Ruth and the Coalition to End Childhood Lead Poisoning. With your help, Hopkins Medicine’s goal of more than $1.4 million will be reached, and—more importantly—innumerable Central Maryland families will be helped.
