2007 Employee Survey

Between June 18 and June 30, employees throughout Hopkins Medicine will be asked to participate in a system-wide employee survey. The 24-question survey will only take about 10 minutes to complete and can be taken online or by telephone. The Gallup Organization will be conducting the survey and no one at Hopkins will see any individual answers. The survey is completely anonymous; only summary reports of the results will be received.

Building Dedication

On a chilly April afternoon, several hundred people gathered under a multicolored tent to celebrate the dedication of the David M. Rubenstein Child Health Building. Home to the Harriet Lane Clinic, specialty clinics and physician offices, the building, on the corner of Wolfe and Orleans, is named for a prominent international businessman and Baltimore native. “I grew up in modest circumstances,” Rubenstein said. “Now I’m in a position to give back to Baltimore, and I want to do so as a symbol to others so that they might do the same one day.”

Colin Powell

Keynote speaker Colin Powell, engaging and seemingly tuned in to all things Hopkins, told the audience that while driving on Orleans Street in his silver Corvette en route to the dedication, he was mistaken for a television reporter. “One day you’re the No. 1 diplomat in the world; the next, you’re Eyewitness News.”

Howard Investment

Howard County General Hospital and the Horizon Foundation have committed $2.3 million to expand care for the elderly and the uninsured. The funds will support a geriatric center, a possible part of the hospital’s planned expansion, and the Columbia Center of Chase Brexton Health Services, a Howard County community clinic that treats the uninsured.
