Carpe Diem

OK, we know. You’re busy. Everyone needs you: your boss, the kids, the cat, your mother. Then there’s your husband. So why not take a day for yourself for once? Spend the third Saturday of this month at A Woman’s Journey and learn about the discoveries that can improve your health from faculty physicians.

Among this year’s 32 seminar topics are arthritis, heart disease, breast cancer and acupuncture. CEUs are available in dietary, nursing, pharmacy, professional counseling, radiology and social work.

A Woman’s Journey: Saturday, Nov. 18, Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel. To register: 410-955-8660 or www.hopkinsmedicine.org/awomansjourney

Deck the Necks

The annual Children’s Center Miracle Tie Fashion Show has a new venue this year: the Mall at Kenilworth in Towson. Now in its 11th year, the Nov. 9 show—from 1 to 2 p.m.—will unveil the latest line of Jos. A. Bank Clothiers Miracle Collection neckties designed by pediatric patients who will be on hand to model their creations. Proceeds help fund research and patient care. Free and open to the public.

UHS Relocated

University Health Services in Carnegie 136 will open in a new location at 401 N. Caroline St. on Nov. 7. Triple the size of the old clinic, the new facility will have extended evening and weekend hours. Students, house staff, fellows, trainees and their dependents will be able to see their own full-time faculty physicians and can continue to see them for as long as they remain enrolled at Johns Hopkins. A full-time nurse practitioner will be available to provide general, primary and gynecologic care. Situated at the corner of Orleans and Caroline, behind CRB2 and close to the Outpatient Center, the clinic is accessible via the #2 shuttle.
