| Shopper’s Paradise
We are going to Las Vegas in September, and I have to make my reservations according to this sale. Can you believe that??? When is it? Much as we recognize the popularity of the annual Women’s Board Best Dressed Sale, this was the first time we’d heard of someone actually planning a vacation around it. Then again, the event is a showstopper. Now in its 39th year, the four-day sale at the Evergreen Carriage House beckons bargain hunters from near and far. Racks overflow with gently used, fashionable dresses, jewelry, handbags, shoes, formalwear and furs—merchandise culled from closets of the well heeled. For the past six months, Women’s Board volunteers have been collecting, sorting and pricing the wares. Their hard work always pays off. Last year, the event raised $145,000 to benefit the Children’s Tower. This year, a presale on Sept. 28, from 4 to 8 p.m., will entice serious shoppers to have first crack. Remember, every purchase made not only benefits your wardrobe but supports patient care at Hopkins Hospital. When we e-mailed the dates of the Best Dressed Sale to our serious shopper, she e-mailed back, My 50th birthday is on that day. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate. —Judy Minkove
