The Painted
Bird Painted blue, emblazoned with the Hopkins
Medicine logo, Lifeline’s brand new helicopter
takes off from the helipad. The twin-engine American
Eurocopter EC145 has a spacious cabin and excellent
weight and lifting capacity. Operated by JH Lifeline
in partnership with STAT Medevac, a regional air-medical
transport service, the helicopter is staffed by a
pilot, paramedic and Lifeline flight nurse. This bird
is busy: Lifeline currently averages 60 to 70 missions
a month.
