| Dribbling for the Health of It
On Fitness Fridays, employees wear sneakers, take stairs instead of elevators and pledge to walk more. Third Fridays feature specific sports that raise pulse rates and lower pounds. “The benefits are great: lowering of stress, cholesterol level and risk for heart disease, while increasing physical fitness and morale,” says Patti Moninghoff, program manager for Wellnet, which conceived of Fitness Friday. Her goal is to expand Fitness Friday institution-wide. Even if you missed the golf, bowling and basketball, sign up for soccer goal shooting on Friday, April 21, from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Phipps. All are welcome. —Lydia Levis Bloch Wellnet offers a network of services, such as classes in yoga, pilates and weight management, as a benefit for Hopkins Hospital and Health System employees.
