Strike Up the Band

Ron “Ringo” Peterson takes on the drums at Heartfest, held Jan. 17 at Martin’s West. The JH Health System and Hospital president was among several top Baltimore-area executives who submitted to a “talent test” administered by Stevie V. and the Heart Attackers. Playing its annual (and only) gig, named for founder Steve Valenti, of Howard County General’s Central Maryland Heart Center, the band is composed of Hopkins heart docs. This year’s celebrity honoree was actress Valerie Harper, an American Heart Association spokesperson. Heartfest 2004 netted $100,000 for the Preventive Cardiology Center directed by Roger Blumenthal.
