Found in Translation

International Patient Services 24-hour Call Center now offers interpretation to all Hopkins Medicine entities, including Hopkins, Bayview and Howard County General hospitals, the Home Care Group and all its community clinics. The Call Center receives 350 requests a month, on average, for translation and cultural assistance over the telephone or onsite. Spanish is the language most commonly requested, followed by Korean and then Russian. As a back-up for translations over the phone, International Patient Services has contracted with Bowne Global Solutions, an international language service, which can provide translations in 300 languages. The Johns Hopkins Cookbook Library helps preserve health and fight disease through science-smart nutrition. Hopkins physicians and nutritionists collaborated with chefs and recipe developers to create the series of three: Recipes for a Healthy Heart, Recipes for Weight Loss and Recipes for Arthritis Health. Recipes feature comprehensive nutritional analyses, step-by-step instructions and insights into choosing the best ingredients. Movie Premiere

Stuck On You, the conjoined-twins saga starring Matt Damon, Greg Kinnear and Cher, with a cameo by Ben Carson, opens this month with a special showing in Baltimore. Proceeds benefit Carson's charities: Carson Scholars Fund and the BEN Fund (Benevolent Endowment Network), a newly established endowment that will provide access to medical care for children with complex neurological problems.
