Dome in Purple
For one hope-filled week in January, the Hopkins Hospital dome joined
other city landmarks that punctuated the evening skyscape with a purple
glow to cheer on the Ravens. Hopkins' contribution was accomplished
by zone maintenance technician Bill Hagan, right, and Bert Aspelmeier,
of life safety. They secured empty paint cans covered with purple theatrical
film around the spotlights in the cupola and replaced the standard fluorescents
inside the dome with black lights. To saturate the hue, they also swathed
the Outpatient Center's rooftop spotlights in purple film.
