Bio
Biography
Dr. Lee, a pioneer in hand transplants, performed the nations first double-hand transplant in May 2009 and was among the first to perform a single hand transplant in the United States in March 2009. He also performed the nations first above-elbow transplant. Dr. Lee has received more than 70 awards and honors, including the 1991 Kappa Delta Award from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and 1995 Sumner Koch Award and 2003 Sterling Bunnell Traveling Fellowship from the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He is currently serving as the President of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the Chair of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and the President of the Robert H. Ivy Society of Plastic Surgeons. He was the chairman of the Plastic Surgery Research Council in 2001-2002, and has served on the Board of Directors for the Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation. In 2008, he helped to found the American Society for Reconstructive Transplantation.
