Bio

Biography
William Stiers completed his doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology at Northwestern University, and then worked as a Senior Research Health Scientist in Health Services Research at the Department of Veterans Affairs, involving health services outcomes research, program evaluation, and multi-site clinical trials. He later completed a 2-year post-doctoral clinical fellowship in Rehabilitation Psychology and Neuropsychology at the University of Michigan, and then served in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center, providing clinical evaluation and treatment of persons with brain injuries and physical disabilities. He is now in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he provides clinical assessment and treatment for persons with brain injury. He Dr. Stiis board certified in Rehabilitation Psychology, and is a licensed psychologist. Dr. Stiers has completed 17 journal publications, 5 book chapters, 11 refereed national conference presentations, and 8 invited national and international conference presentations, and has received over $4.5 million in grant funding. His research interests are in the education and training of rehabilitation professionals. He has served as a grant reviewer and study section member for the Department of Veterans Affairs Rehabilitation Research and Development and the National Institute for Disability and Rehabilitation Research. He has served as an Editorial Board member for Rehabilitation Psychology and The Clinical Neuropsychologist, and an ad-hoc manuscript reviewer for Archives of Physical Medicine, Journal of Head Trauma Rehabilitation, and Journal of Gerontology: Social Sciences. He was an item-writer for the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology. He has served as an Executive Board member for the American Psychological Association Division 22 Rehabilitation Psychology, including a term as President. He also served on a study committee for the National Academy of Science, and has been selected as a Fulbright Senior Specialist.
