Biography
Dr. Morads interest in neuroscience began during his years as a Howard Hughes undergraduate research scholar at Georgetown University and the National Institutes of Health. He subsequently graduated from the University of Virginia and completed his residency in Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Following his residency, Dr. Morad embarked on multidisciplinary surgical and neurocritical care fellowship at Johns Hopkins, and is currently board certified in Anesthesiology, Surgical Critical Care, and Neurocritical Care.
Dr. Morads research focusses on the perioperative management of pain for patients undergoing neurosurgery. He has completed two randomized controlled trials on the efficacy of patient controlled analgesia (PCA) in patients following craniotomy. Currently, he is studying the safety of opioid administration following craniotomy using end-tidal CO2 detection. He is also collaborating on a project investigating the efficacy of Transcortical Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) on postoperative pain following spine surgery.
As an assistant residency director in the department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine, Dr. Morad also has an interest in resident education. He created the departments current ACGME compliant Neuroanesthesia curriculum and has earned a Teacher of the Year award as recognition for his efforts in the area of education.
