Bio

Biography
Dr. Rad is a board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in microvascular surgery for breast reconstruction, and aesthetic plastic surgery. Dr. Rad is dedicated to taking care of breast cancer patients and offers state of the art free tissue transfer techniques such as the DIEP and SGAP flaps to rebuild the breast after mastectomy. He was featured in the worldwide press release that discussed his landmark study describing the LSGAP flap which borrows tissue from the love-handle region, a major advancement from the SGAP flap. Very few surgeons worldwide perform this operation, and Dr. Rad recently presented the work to the World Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery meeting in Finland. He has published in major peer-reviewed scientific journals and has presented his research at national and world meetings. As director of aesthetic plastic surgery at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Rad teaches resident surgeons-in-training how to perform the most cutting edge techniques in aesthetic surgery. He has a special interest in facial rejuvenation such as facelift, blepharoplasty, and rhinoplasty, as well as breast rejuvenation. He is active in the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery. For Dr. Rad, the best results are achieved when surgery is approached like a dance - with grace, efficiency, and elegance. As a dancer internationally known for his achievements, he was world ranked in professional Latin American dance, and his skills were featured in the hit ABC television documentary "Hopkins.
