Biography
Dr. John OBrien Clarke is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. His clinical and research interests include dysphagia (swallowing disorders), gastroesophageal reflux disease, esophageal motility, eosinophilic esophagitis, gastroparesis and other gastrointestinal motility disorders.
He completed undergraduate training at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island and received his medical degree (M.D.) from Columbia University in New York City. He completed internship and residency in Internal Medicine at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. He then worked for 2-years as a Hospitalist before completing Gastroenterology Fellowship at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.
In addition to routine fellowship training, Dr. Clarke also worked for several months with Dr. Peter Kahrilas at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, pursuing advanced training in the field of esophageal motility. Dr. Clarke is currently the Director of Esophageal Motility at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.
