Bio
Biography
As Professor of Neurology at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Gregory Bergey focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of seizures and epilepsy. He sees both adults and adolescents with seizure disorders. Specific interests include the treatment of intractable epilepsy, evaluations for seizure surgery, epilepsy in women (including considerations during pregnancy), treatment of the first seizure and neurostimulator treatments for epilepsy.
He is co-director of the Epilepsy Research Laboratory at Johns Hopkins, where their NIH-funded research projects involve patterns of seizure onset, propagation and cessation, and investigations into computer-simulated neural networks - research that strives to provide insights into mechanisms of seizure activity that can be used to develop better means of seizure control.
After graduating from Princeton University and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Dr. Bergey completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Yale-New Haven Hospital in Connecticut. He later completed a residency in neurology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Bergey received additional postdoctoral training in neurophysiology in the Laboratory of Developmental Neurobiology at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Dr. Bergey currently sees patients at the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center in Baltimore on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
