Bio

Biography
Joel I. Brenner, the Helen B. Taussig Professor and a member of the Baltimore medical community for 34 years, joined Johns Hopkins faculty in 1999. Prior to that, he was director of Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Maryland Hospital where he served as President of the Medical Staff. He is a board-certified pediatric cardiologist who serves as the director of the Helen B. Taussig Congenital Heart Center at Johns Hopkins and also directs Pediatric Cardiology at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. His special interests include community-based specialty care delivery, fetal cardiology, and the epidemiology of congenital heart disease. The author or co-author of over 60 peer-reviewed scientific articles, Dr. Brenner has been listed seven times among Baltimores top doctors. He was awarded the Presidential Recognition Award in 1991 and the Helen B. Taussig Award in 1996 by the Maryland affiliate of the American Heart Association, where he also served as President of the affiliate.
