Sickle Cell Anemia / Hemoglobin C Disease

Sensitivity:   Detects all Hb S and Hb C alleles
   
Cost:   $302 per individual blood sample

Prenatal testing for Sickle Cell Anemia is $841. Mother's blood is required for maternal cell contamination studies. Hemoglobin electrophoresis reports are required from both parents.

Turn Around Time:   Blood:  2 to 3 weeks
Prenatal:  Up to 2 weeks 
Special Considerations:   We require hemoglobin electrophoresis results be sent with the sample.  

If prenatal:  
Submission of parental blood is strongly encouraged with prenatal samples to confirm sickle cell status. Please speak with the laboratory genetic counselor for prices and CPT codes
