Hosted by Wenda Royster, The Urban Health Radio Program provides a straightforward and culturally relevant educational program to address challenges and promote sustainable solutions to address health and health care disparities affecting residents of East Baltimore and other neighborhoods throughout the city.
Wenda Royster currently hosts the Bon Secours radio show "In the Know" on WOLB, has over 10 years of experience in the field of Radio and Television. She has hosted or co-hosted various Television shows such as “Say Baltimore” on Fox 45 Baltimore and morning fashion segments on WJZ Channel 13 Baltimore. She has hosted teleconferences for the Department of Health and Human Services, organized numerous social marketing campaigns (Smoking Cessation, HIV Testing/Prevention, Obesity, Immunizations for Seniors, and Take Your Loved One to the Doctor Day) using radio, TV, and outdoor advertising for the Baltimore City Health Department, ABC, and various other community based organizations.
The format consists of four, one hour programs per month, which features a medical or health professional content expert along with either one or both patient/consumer advocate and/or a Social Worker. Our program coordinator and chief medical consultant is Dr. Malcolm V. Brock, a specialist in thoracic oncology, and Associate Professor of Surgery and Oncology at Johns Hopkins.
