Alicia Greene
Alicia Greene joined the Johns Hopkins Diabetes Center as Senior Research Coordinator in 2003, with ten years of clinical research experience. Her role is to coordinate whatever clinical research studies are active at the Center. This includes involvement in submission of a project to our regulatory review committees, working with the faculty principal investigator to develop data collection techniques, recruiting research participants, communicating with the regulators and the Institutional Review Boards, and being involved in every aspect of carrying out good, important, ethical research.
If a person is eligible to participate in a particular research study, Alicia will meet with each him or her, to tell them all they need to know and want to know about the study. Alicia believes a better informed patient from the very start will lead to better research results and more satisfying experience for all. Her research participants may learn how to use devices like the Continuous Glucose Monitoring System, take new pills or insulins, or have a variety of other research approaches.
Alicia is a great resource for a research participant to have. Not only does she ensure that the study guidelines are followed to the letter, but she also is extremely attentive to the well-being of the participants. She genuinely enjoys getting to know the patients, and is readily available to answer their questions and attend to their needs as study participants.
"The best part of my job is meeting all different types of people", she says. Alicia takes pride in assuring that her participants' research study experience is a good one.
