Licensing and Business Development is responsible for managing and coordinating the activities and initiatives of the Division's three operating units; the Office of Business Development, Biological Distribution and Resource Center, and the Office of Technology Licensing.
Business Development facilitates interactions between the School of Medicine and companies interested in collaborations with the faculty, markets the School's intellectual property available for licensing, and promotes the School's research expertise.
The Biological Distribution and Resource Center is a University service center whose mission is to assist the faculty in the management of biological material flow, facilitate the protection of intellectual property, and assure compliance of federal regulations.
The Office of Technology Licensing manages the School of Medicine's material transfer processes and its portfolio intellectual property. The Office is responsible for commercial assessments, patent prosecutions, and negotiation of license agreements.
