Using our patient-centered care model, we are dedicated to providing each patient with the highest quality experience. We deliver a program that ranges from ongoing evaluation, specialized treatment and support services to extensive, personalized follow-up care. This comprehensive approach minimizes your need to seek out multiple specialists, navigate the information and translate complicated options. We want each of our patients to be active and educated about their disease and its treatment so that they can confidently participate in their treatment decisions.
In order to understand how our patients perceive their experiences with us, we regularly survey them. Our survivor volunteers also created a breast cancer patient’s bill of rights.
Every breast center should have a clear mission, vision and philosophy. Our entire Breast Center team, including ancillary support staff, meet annually to revisit our mission, vision and philosophy, and to develop goals and objectives for the coming year that will make our best even better – on behalf of our patients.

The Johns Hopkins Breast Center's Mission is to provide optimal breast health care to the region utilizing a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach. We seek to influence breast care nationally and internationally through excellence in treatment, education and research.
We are here for the primary purpose of treating breast cancer patients. We must limit the trauma of diagnosis and treatment of this very serious illness. We must render our services with compassion and professional skill.
Nothing can be allowed to interfere with what is in our patient's best interest. We each must be our patient's advocate in interaction with the health care system. Each of us is the person best equipped to solve our patient problems in our area of expertise. Working together we can best improve the care for each and every patient.
Each and every patient has the right to directly participate in the decision making about her care and treatment. It is our responsibility to empower her with information and educate her so that she can become an active team member of the breast center team responsible for her care.
