| Medical Privacy The topic of the Inaugural Robert H. Levi Leadership Symposium is "Privacy and Medical Information." Extraordinary advances in medicine and genomic science, and in information technology, have together generated unprecedented opportunities to use medical information to advance medical research, health care management and the public's health. These same advances, however, also have the potential to create unacceptable intrusions in individual privacy and to undermine opportunities in the workplace and in insurance markets. The urgency of the issues raised by concerns about privacy and medical information has pushed the topic to the forefront of consideration by government, the courts, and the business community. |
