Biographical Sketch

Adnan Ali Hyder, M.D., M.P.H., Ph.D., is Assistant Professor, and Leon Robertson Faculty Development Chair, in the Department of International Health at Johns Hopkins University. In addition, he is the Director of the Doctor of Public Health program, core faculty at the Johns Hopkins Berman Bioethics Institute, and joint faculty of the Center for Injury Research & Policy. He serves as Co-Director of the NIH-Fogarty International Research Ethics Training Program at the Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Hyder serves as a Consultant to the Global Forum for Health Research, the World Health Organization, Geneva and other international organizations. Dr. Hyder has published and worked for several years on issues related to health systems development, equity, and ethics in developing countries. His current research and teaching interests in ethics include: ethics of health research systems; ethics of public health practice in developing countries; decision making and resource allocation in health; equity in health systems performance; and capacity development for international health research ethics. His work has a South Asian and African focus at the present time with national capacity development as a prominent feature in most of the work. Dr. Hyder obtained his M.P.H. and Ph.D. degrees from Johns Hopkins University, and his M.D. from the Aga Khan University in Pakistan.
