Biographical Sketch

Laura Parsons is a licensed psychologist whose area of expertise is children under the age of five with developmental disabilities. She works as a consultant for New Alternatives for Children, a foster care and adoption agency for children with chronic illness and developmental difficulties. She is currently the President of the Board of Trustees of the American Folk Art Museum, the Chair of the Board of Trustees of Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City, and the Secretary of the Board of Trustees for VIP Community Services, Inc. Laura also serves on the Board of Trustees of Bank Street College of Education, The Promise Fund of Polytechnic University, the YWCA Day Care Corporation and the New York City Community Services Board. Laura received her B.A. in History from the University of Hawaii , her M.A. in Early Childhood Special Education from Teachers College and her Psy.D. in Child School Psychology from NYU.
