Fred Newman is a founding partner of Hoguet Newman & Regal, LLP, a commercial litigation and employment law firm in New York City. Mr. Newman has won jury trial, bench trials, dispositive motions, and appeals in the federal and N.Y. state courts and arbitrations before various tribunals, and he has directed a variety o complex commercial transactions. Mr. Newman also advises corporate owners, executives and entrepreneurs on business and personal issues. Mr. Newman graduated from Harvard College, cum laude, in 1967, and Columbia Law School in 1970. He completed The Executive Program at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business in 1984 (mini-MBA). Mr. Newman is a Court-appointed Mediator in the U.S. District Court, Southern district of New York. Mr. Newman’s numerous civic and non-profit positions have included: Director, Columbia Law School Association; Trustee, The Calhoun School, New York City; Founding Director and Vice president, American Corporate Counsel Association, New York Chapter; Director and Secretary, New York Fire Safety Foundation; and Life fellow, American Bar Foundation. Mr. Newman was Treasurer of the Clean Water/ Clear Air Bond Act Committee, a successful statewide ballot initiative. In 2005, Mr. Newman was appointed by Governor George E. Pataki to the nine-member New York State Ad Hoc Committee on the Future of Racing, a bipartisan panel established to conduct the bidding process for the franchise to operate New York’s three major thoroughbred racetracks. |
