Andreas Dracopoulos was born and raised in Athens, Greece. He graduated from the Wharton Undergraduate Business School (University of Pennsylvania) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. He is married and resides in New York City. After a short spell with Salomon Brothers, he left to join the family business with which he is still involved---mainly in the financial markets sector. He serves in various Boards, including as a Trustee of the privately held Niarchos Family Trust, as a Director of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation for Charity, and as a Trustee of the New York Public Library. He is a member of the National Advisory Board of the Johns Hopkins Bioethics Institute, a member of the International Council of the Center for Strategic and International Studies in D.C., and a member of the International Council of the Museum of Modern Art. He has also served as a Director of the Rockefeller Center Board (1996-2001) and as an elected member of the Union of Greek Ship owners (2000-03). He is the recipient of the 2002 Odyssey Award from the Hellenic Community of Astoria, New York, in recognition of his contribution towards the promotion of Greek learning. |
