The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health invites applications for Assistant Professor in bioethics and public health.  This tenure-track faculty member will have his or her academic appointment in any relevant department of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, including Health Policy and Management, International Health, Population Family Health Sciences, Epidemiology, and Environmental Health Sciences.  This new faculty member also will be a core faculty member of the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics.

Applicants must hold a PhD, JD, MD, or equivalent.  Applicants should: (1) have a solid background in bioethics; (2) have strong commitments to public/population health; (3) exhibit potential for a distinguished record of scholarship in the field of bioethics and public health; (4) show promise for excellence in teaching; and (5) show promise for ability to secure external funding; (6) show potential for collaborative and interdisciplinary work.   Scholars from a variety of disciplines, including medicine, nursing, the social sciences, public health, law, and economics are eligible to apply. Applicants with strong training in empirical (quantitative and/or qualitative) social science research are particularly encouraged to apply. The successful applicant will be mentored to develop an increasingly independent portfolio of scholarship and funding in bioethics and public health.  This new faculty member will join other bioethics/public health faculty teaching and advising in the PhD program in bioethics and public health/health policy. 

The successful applicant will join thriving communities of scholars both within the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and within the Berman Institute of Bioethics. The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health is the largest school of public health in the country with particular strengths in global health, health policy, and the qualitative and quantitative sciences.   The Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics includes scholars with backgrounds in public health, philosophy, medicine, nursing, social science, statistical science, and law, with active portfolios of scholarship, teaching, and service in bioethics.  Faculty of the Berman Institute have appointments in four schools of the University–arts and sciences, medicine, public health, and nursing.
