Fogarty International Center For Advanced Study in the Health Sciences International Research Ethics Education And Curriculum Development Award: http://www.fic.nih.gov/programs/training_grants/bioethics/index.htm The Fogarty Aids International Training and Research Program (AITRP) http://www.jhsph.edu/FogartyAIDS/Background.html With generous funding from the Fogarty International Center (FIC) of the NIH, the Johns Hopkins AIDS International Training and Research Program (AITRP) provides training in epidemiology, biostatistics, and laboratory techniques to scientists from developing countries conducting HIV research. Scientists are supported from Thailand , India , Ethiopia , Peru , Uganda , Malawi , People's Republic of China , Haiti , Dominican Republic , South Africa , Brazil , Laos , and Georgia . The Fogarty Program, at the request of developing country scientists, has asked the Johns Hopkins Bioethics Institute to create and implement research ethics training workshops in several of the Fogarty collaborating countries. Research ethics workshops have been offered in India and Malawi.
Workshop topics will be similar to those described for the Short Course in Research Ethics . Workshops will be both didactic and case-based. Fogarty AITRP funds also provide scholarship support for a small number of scientists to attend the one-week intensive international research ethics course taught annually at Johns Hopkins AFFILIATED FACULTY
