Basic Research

Basic laboratory research focuses on the biochemical mechanisms of HD through construction of cell and animal models of the disease. These models can be used in developing experimental modalities that will provide the foundation of the Center's continuing quest for a cure for HD.

Please see the descriptions of the basic research laboratories involved in HD research in the Division of Neurobiology.

Research in the Division of Medical Psychology is directed by Jason Brandt, Ph.D. focuses on neuropsychology of affected individuals and at risk individuals. Research in David Borschelt's lab in the Neuropathology Division focuses on mouse models of HD.
