Dr. Alisa Kim is assistant professor of ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in the division of cornea, external diseases and refractive surgery. A board-certified ophthalmologist and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Dr. Kim specializes in laser refractive surgery, cataract surgery, and other anterior segment surgeries, such as corneal transplantation.
Dr. Kim’s research at Wilmer focuses on the improvement of surgical outcomes in laser refractive surgery, the accuracy of intraocular pressure measurements in individuals with abnormal corneas, and alterations in corneal biomechanics in post-surgical and pathologic corneas. She is an investigator for the AMO-VISX excimer laser clinical trials conducted at Johns Hopkins. Additionally, she trains other physicians as a proctor for the IntraLase femtosecond laser and the AMO-VISX excimer laser used for laser vision correction.
Dr. Kim received her B.A. in molecular and cellular biology at the University of California, Berkeley prior to completing her medical training at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine. After her internship at the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center, Dr. Kim completed her ophthalmology residency training at the Jules Stein Eye Institute, University of California, Los Angeles. She received her fellowship training in cornea, anterior segment diseases, and refractive surgery at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
