An associate professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Dr. Swartz specializes in mood disorders with a focus on women’s health. She directs the clinical programs of the Mood Disorders Center at Johns Hopkins, and along with Dr. Jennifer Payne, founded the Women’s Mood Disorders Center at Johns Hopkins. Dr. Swartz also directs the Adolescent Depression Awareness Program, a school-based program to educate high school students, faculty and parents about teenage depression.
Dr. Swartz conducts research on psychiatric disorders among women in the general population.
Dr. Swartz received her M.D. from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She completed her residency at Johns Hopkins along with a postdoctoral fellowship in psychiatric epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
