Certified by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Dr. Chen’s research has been included in numerous publications, such as the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the International Urogynecology Journal, Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Urology, Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery.
Her interests are pelvic organ prolapse, urinary and fecal incontinence, and minimally invasive surgical techniques for gynecologic and urogynecologic surgeries, including conventional laparoscopic surgery and robotic surgery, overactive bladder, bladder and rectal fistula.
In addition, Dr. Chen has an interest in international medicine and gynecological issues that affect women in developing countries. She previously spent time in Ethiopia caring for and operating on women with obstetric fistula. Most recently she has cared for women with obstetric fistula, prolapse and urinary incontinence in India and Nepal. She is also helping the medical students and OB/GYN residents set up a global health leadership program.
Dr. Chen received her M.D. from Indiana University School of Medicine. After completing a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Dr. Chen finished a fellowship in female pelvic medicine, reconstructive surgery and minimally invasive surgery at the Cleveland Clinic.
