Sharon Solomon, M.D.

A retina specialist and board-certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Sharon D. Solomon is associate professor of ophthalmology and the Katharine Graham Professor of Ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

 Dr. Solomon’s clinical expertise includes medical and surgical treatment of age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, epiretinal membranes, macular holes, and retinal tears and detachment.

 She is a graduate of Harvard University where she studied biochemistry and molecular biology, and she received her medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco. After completing an internship in internal medicine at Stanford University and residency at the University of California, San Francisco, she joined the Wilmer Eye Institute in 2002 for fellowship training and then as a member of the faculty.

She will discuss Eyes Wide Open at A Woman's Journey in Session III, 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
