The Johns Hopkins Breast Center provides expert diagnosis for breast cancer and other breast health issues—both in the technology we use and in our review of the results. Having the correct diagnosis is a critical first step in providing the best treatment possible.
Diagnostic mammograms are used to evaluate women who have a breast mass (found during a breast self-exam or by their physician) or who have other symptoms of a breast abnormality. A radiologist will be there to discuss the findings directly with the patient afterward. If the findings warrant further investigation, your radiologist will recommend a breast biopsy or another test.
