Online Patient Safety Certificate Program

The Armstrong Institute's online Patient Safety Certificate Program delivers core concepts and tools to be an effective patient safety champion in your hospital, clinical department or unit/clinic. The program's 13 modules, which can be taken anywhere and at any time, delve into core concepts in such areas as:

  • Fostering a culture of patient safety
  • Delivering patient-centered care
  • Designing safer care delivery systems
  • Enhancing interdisciplinary teamwork and communication
  • Sustaining change
  • Tools and strategies for identifying and mitigating hazards.

Patient safety initiatives, both in the United States and overseas, have used this online program to prepare key organizational safety leaders and build their organizations’ internal capacity for improvement.

The patient safety challenges in this program aren’t theoretical. Participants step into the shoes of a team at a virtual hospital that has very real problems. As they are introduced to concepts and improvement tools, participants get frequent opportunities to apply them to realistic, engaging scenarios.

This self-paced program requires about 18.5 hours to complete and carries continuing medical education credits.

There are no fees for participating and receiving CME credit for this activity. During the period June 1, 2017 through June 30, 2020, participants must read the learning objectives and faculty disclosures and study the educational activity.

If you wish to receive acknowledgment for completing this activity, please complete the post-test and evaluation on www.cmeuniversity.com.  On the navigation menu, click on “Find Post-test/Evaluation by Course” and search by course ID 12437.  Upon registering and successfully completing the post-test with a score of 70% or better and the activity evaluation, your certificate will be made available immediately.

For Pharmacists: Upon successfully completing the post-test with a score of 70% or better and the activity evaluation form, transcript information will be sent to the NABP CPE Monitor Service.
