In early 2012, the Armstrong Institute, Johns Hopkins Medicine International and the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) of the United Arab Emirates formed a collaboration to work together to improve patient safety and quality of care in SEHA facilities.

Their first initiative is an effort to eliminate central line-associated bloodstream infections in 12 participating intensive care units across seven SEHA hospitals. The collaboration also calls for patient safety interventions within non-ICU hospital units, patient safety training for clinical staff, and developing local patient safety leaders to ensure that improvements are sustained.
