Rodent colonies at JHU are continually monitored for intercurrent rodent diseases through our Sentinel Screening Program.
If excluded diseases are found, the rodent medical surgical team develops an Action Plan to remove the pathogen from the colony with the method that is least disruptive to ongoing research.
An increasing number of colonies at JHU are maintained free of rodent Helicobacter species: Helicobacter Information
JHU treated or intensively treated all mouse colonies at JHU for pinworms in the fall/winter of 2008/9. Since that time we have not detected pinworms in our rodent colonies. Details on how to collect fecal and tape samples for microscopic analysis can be found here: Pinworm Submission
Rodent Colony Health Reports are available.
