In late July, the Departments of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine and Surgery gathered in the historic Phipps Lobby to celebrate Dr. John Ulatowski's decade of outstanding leadership and guidance as Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine's Director. The overflow crowd offered warm wishes for his future endeavors in international medicine.
With pride, Hospital President Ron Peterson, Dean of the Medical Faculty, CEO of Johns Hopkins Medicine Paul Rothman, and Interim Director Daniel Nyhan congratulated Dr. Ulatowski on his stellar leadership. All of the executive speakers emphasized that his full-time focus now shifts from focusing on one clinical department to a full-time role as Vice President and Executive Medical Director of Johns Hopkins Medicine International, predicting he will bring the same success on a global level that he brought to one department. As one departmental leader noted, "Words cannot adequately describe the gratitude and admiration that we feel for John, and we would like to demonstrate our appreciation for everything that he has done for our department and for each of us on a personal level as well."
