The American Board of Pediatrics, along with the American Board of Pediatrics Foundation, enthusiastically names David G. Nichols, M.D., M.B.A. as its next President and CEO, succeeding James A. Stockman III, M.D., who has served in the role for more than 20 years. The transition will take place in December 2012.
Dr. Nichols emerged from a lengthy list of incredibly talented, accomplished individuals and will join in the ABP's reputable history of influential, visionary leaders, including Dr. Stockman.
Dr. Nichols has held the position of Vice Dean for Education at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine since 2000. He brings an excellent vision for the future of the ABP, a broad view of medical education, and a passion for the improvement of children's health.
