Dr. Christopher Wu is a professor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine and gynecology and obstetrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His areas of clinical expertise include anesthesiology.
Dr. Wu serves as the chief of the Division of Obstetric & Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine.
He received his undergraduate degree from Union College in New York. He earned his M.D. from Albany Medical College. He completed his residency at the University of Rochester. Dr. Wu joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 1999.
Prior to joining Johns Hopkins, Dr. Wu was an assistant professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
Dr. Wu’s research interests include the areas of acute and postoperative pain management, obstetric and regional anesthesia and analgesia, patient-oriented outcomes, outcomes research and evidence-based medicine. He studies the effect of regional anesthesia and analgesia on mortality, morbidity and patient-oriented outcomes.
Dr. Wu serves on the editorial boards of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine and the Clinical Journal of Pain. He is on the board of directors of the American Society of Regional Anesthesia. His teaching has been recognized with awards from the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, Johns Hopkins and the University of Rochester.
