Brad Winters earned a Bachelors in Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1983 before heading to Buffalo, NY where he entered the Medical Scientist training Program at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, completing his MD and PhD in 1992.  He completed his internship in Internal Medicine at the Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo, followed by a Residency and Fellowship in Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.  Brad has been on faculty at JHH as an Anesthesiologist and Intensivist since 1997, and is Board Certified as both an Anesthesiologist and Critical Care Medicine specialist.  He is a clinical Intensivist attending in the Cardiac Surgical, General Surgical and Neurocritical Care Units, and is also a Neuro-Anesthesiologist.

Brad’s research interests have grown over the years, from Microbiology with a focus in microbial molecular pathogenesis, to vascular biology and obesity, pulmonary disease, and currently is focusing on the field of Patient Safety and Quality of Care.  In addition to his role as the medical director for the Post-Graduate Critical Care Residency for Physician Assistants, he is the medical director of the JHH Adult Rapid Response System Program, and Assistant Residency Director and Director of Medical Student Education for the Department of Anesthesiology/Critical Care Medicine.
