My research interest involves understanding how pregnancy affects intracellular signalling pathways linked to oxytocin and adrenergic receptors, how these pathways interact with each other, and how pregnancy affects these interactions. An understanding of normal effects of pregnancy and labor on these pathways will be important in elucidating mechanisms of initiation and maintenance of normal labor and understanding pathological situations such as preterm labor, dystocia, uterine hypertonia during labor, and postpartum uterine atony.
