Major focus of research activities includes studying molecular mechanisms of cardiovascular deconditioning in rodent models of microgravity. Other areas of research include vasoregulatory dysfunction associated with obesity, diabetes, and the role of leptin in these vasoregulatory changes. Collaborative efforts are underway to investigate the molecular mechanisms of vascular dysfunction associated with aging. Collaborative efforts are also on-going to understand the role of the beta 3-adrenergic receptor in modulation of myocardial contractility. Collaborative effect to understand the role of nitric oxide synthase isoforms in myocardial contractility. |
